Marriage

Marriage is created by God

We celebrate marriage at Kharis, because it’s created by God. We see marriage at the beginning of the Bible in Genesis 2:24, and the Bible will end with marriage (Ephesians 5:27).

Eden School of Marriage

Eden School of Marriage will launch in Spring 2023. It will consist of four sessions, which will be a mix of in-person and online sessions.

The Eden School of Marriage focuses on the fundamental areas to help couples prepare for a successful and victorious Christian marriage:

Topics include:

· Foundations of Christian marriage

· Love and communication

· Money and marriage

· Duties of a husband and wife

· Fighting fair – resolving conflict

· The origin of sex

Pre-Marital Counselling

Pre-marital counselling is essential to ensure that the couple planning to marry is aligned with God’s idea of marriage (Romans 12:2, Matthew 7:25).

Before making a commitment it is sensible for many couples to discover each other at a deeper level, find out their unique ‘couple fit’ and learn how best to keep their relationship strong ahead of entering marriage (Luke 14:28-31).

The process

Couples complete a Pre-Marital Counselling Form, and are encouraged to do so independently.

Once the forms have been returned, a trained Kharis marriage counsellor will be allocated to the couple.

The counselling sessions will be based on the information gathered on the form. It is therefore important that couples complete the forms honestly.

The sessions

Typically, the number of sessions completed by the couple with their counsellors will range anywhere from 6-8, depending on their individual circumstances. A variety of topics and issues are addressed, including the biblical purpose of marriage, biblical roles in marriage, communication, finances, sexuality, and family history issues.
